VANCOUVER, BC, Oct. 5, 2026 /CNW/ -- Housekeeping and food and beverage workers at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver will cast ballots on October 6 and 7, 2026 on a strike mandate for their bargaining committee.
"Fairmont Hotel Vancouver workers deliver the world-class service this hotel is known for, and they deserve a contract that reflects it," said Unifor National President Lana Payne. "A strong strike vote will send a clear message that the employer needs to come to the table with a fair offer."
Local 114's negotiators are deeply unsatisfied with the employer's position on wages, benefits, vacation and employee travel benefits for banquet staff. A positive strike vote will provide a mandate from members to escalate if necessary.
"Vancouver's tourism economy runs on the skill and hard work of hotel workers, and these members keep one of the city's prestigious hotels running every day," said Unifor Western Regional Director Gavin McGarrigle. "The employer can avoid any disruption by bargaining a fair deal now."
Local 114 represents 445 workers at the hotel.
